Restoring  old, historic windows to look & operate like new!

Serving historic property owners throughout Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Historic Sash Restoration Services:

Type B Window Restoration:

Scrape and sand loose and peeling paint, and retrofitted. A stable and operable window that is weatherstripped.

The sash will be sanded and scraped to remove any loose and peeling paint/glazing. Any voids will epoxied/skimmed and glass gaps caulked and glazed, but the sash won't be as "smooth" as a Type A. Yet, it will be stabilized, weatherstripped, and operate like a Type A.

Type C Window Restoration:

Removal of the bottom sash, which gets Type B treatment. Top sash remains in place, minimal restoration.

The bottom sash is the main focus with Type C restoration. Top sash will remain in place and the bottom sash will be removed to get a Type B restoration. Bottom parting bead will removed to make way for new weatherstripped parting bead, and the original stop will be weatherstripped.

Additional Services Offered:

-Removal of Old Sash: No need to throw out your old window sash in the dumpster, adding to our waste problem.

-Paint stripping: Pick Up, Drop off, Delivery, and Coordination of architectural items to be stripped. Great for owners that want to try restoration for themselves first.

-Fabrication: Fabricated sash or window sash components to match original.

-Other services: Painting the interior casement, exterior frame painting, storm windows.

Type A Window Restoration:

Completely stripped and full restoration. "Old", historic window turned "new" again.

The sash are fully stripped of paint to bare wood. This allows for any imperfections to be corrected. It will look as it did originally and operate better than when it was first installed. New parting bead, stop, metal weatherstrip replace the old in order to help with the smooth operation and weather sealing. No more drafty windows! This is the example "new, old" window!

Type A Restoration, Top and bottom sash operable.
